Spinal Cord Injuries

Spinal cord injuries can be devastating. In the most severe cases, they can result in paralysis in the arms, hands, trunk and legs. The injured person may lose the ability to breath on his/or her own, or to control his or her own bowel or bladder movements. Traumatic spinal cord injuries often result from a traumatic impact to the spine that dislocates, fractures, crushes and/or compresses one or more vertebra. Common causes of spinal cord injuries include automobile collisions, falls, and even gun-shot wounds.

Traumatic Brain Injuries

Traumatic brain injuries usually result from a violent blow or other traumatic injury to the head. Such brain injuries can result in physical paralysis, chronic pain, loss of bowel and bladder control, speech impairment, memory loss, loss of vision, loss of hearing and many other debilitating conditions. Falls, and collisions involving cars, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians are among the most common causes of traumatic brain injuries.

Severe Burns

Third degree burns, sometimes called full thickness burns, destroy not only the outer layer of skin (the “epidermis”) but also the entire layer beneath (the “dermis”).  While burns can be very painful, some third-degree burns will result in a lack of pain, and numbness, because nerve endings have been destroyed.  Third degree burns can result in disfigurement and physical impairment and will often require skin grafting and expensive cosmetic surgery.

Third degree burns can be caused by scalding liquids, flame, friction, contact with hot objects and by exposure to certain chemicals.  Automobile accidents are one of the leading causes of third-degree burns, and defective products may in some instances cause third degree burns.  For instance, in recent years many people of suffered third degree burns resulting from exploding E-Cigarette devices and Vape fires).
