Talcum Powder / Ovarian Cancer

Talcum powder, primarily in the form of baby powder products has been used by women for decades after being marketed as a feminine hygiene product. Unfortunately, studies going back to the 1980’s have shown a connection between talcum powder and ovarian cancer.  There is also substantial evidence that talcum powder, including Baby Powder manufactured and sold by Johnson & Johnson is frequently contaminated with small amounts of asbestos, a carcinogen known to cause ovarian cancer and mesothelioma.

Johnson & Johnson and other manufacturers failed to include a warning label regarding the cancer risks associated with their talcum-powder based consumer products including Johnson’s Baby Powder and Shower to Shower.  To date, juries have awarded billions of dollars in verdicts against Johnson & Johnson in the relatively small number of cases that have went to trial.
